The band programs of Fairfield Middle School and Fairfield Central High School make up the bands of Fairfield County. The overall goal is for all of the students to become confidant in their own abilities, to develop a love for all types music, and heighten their playing through music reading, sight reading, and going through several instrumental methods to build their technical ability. Students that are involved with the band will gain knowledge and view first hand how other band students interact with each other and will use those positive experiences in their own band program through band trips. Outside of music, the students will learn to work in groups, develop aural and reading skills, and improve on their vocabulary, math, and history. This will ensure them success in playing instrumental music.
The goals are based on South Carolina music
education standards. Students are required to master the objectives as outlined
in the district curriculum guide/course requirements in order to receive full
credit for all band courses. Students are also required to participate in the
school wide writing, reading, and mathematics across the curriculum set by
